Roger Guérin Vase h47
Very large oenochoe sandstone vase by Roger Guérin, with incised decoration of a crouched Macedonian warrior with helmet, lance and shield. Both sides of the vase are featuring ionic columns and on the handle side a pair of stylized victory wings. The neck and base are decorated with a typical ancient Greek border pattern. All engravings are enhanced through salt-glaze technique. The mouth of the wine jug features two openings to serve small or large pours. The piece is shaped by hand.
